A Southern California SCUBA Diving Club - est. 1965

The Sea Divers are a independent (501c3) nonprofit advanced recreational SCUBA diving club based in in Southern California.  We schedule about 11 boat dives a year on some of the best Southern California dive boats; the Peace, and the Giant Stride all of which include food and air fills in the price. We reserve bunks/staterooms for our members on all overnight and multi-day trips. We dive advanced and intermediate locations for the experienced diver that offer the best hunting and photographic opportunities found in Southern California and possibly the world.  See our trip schedule below for more details.

October  6Rainer Otto, a Dive 'N Surf club member, will be showing his video. He has so many beautiful international and local underwater videos. Rainer Otto has pursued underwater photography and videocraphy since 2002.  He will take us on a journey in the amazing world of ocean’s smallest creatures from the Philippines, Indonesia and California.  You can only appreciate this world fully through the macro lens of an underwater still or video camera.
See his Video diving album for the variety of diving he has documented over the years:

November  6. Dale Scheckler
, Editor at Large of California Diving News and organizer of past Scuba Shows in Long Beach will be presenting to TSD, probably about diving sites near Los Angeles, especially at the various Channel Islands. Dale has literally written a book about this subject, so attend this informative program.

December 4
. Dr. Tony Knight serves on the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary Advisory Council. His presentation is Introducing Your Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary https://channelislands.noaa.gov/
The Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary is a protected area that surrounds the Channel Islands National Park and administered by NOAA.    The presentation will help divers to better understand the Sanctuary with regard to current research, management, and education.  The Marine Conservation Areas and Marine Reserves around the islands will be discussed including research on Marine Protected Areas worldwide.  Current issues such as invasive species and the role of divers to help identify and halt the spread of these will be highlighted.  Most importantly, he will discuss ways divers can enjoy, protect, and contribute to the health of this precious ecosystem.

Future TSD program ideas, leads and suggestions are strongly encouraged at peter@diver.net .
